LogoAugust2013                  Day one of our “10 Days of Giveaways” was sponsored by work-at-home mama, Sara from HipBowPotamus designs. We first connected with Sarah, a couple years ago when we hosted our first “Meet the Doulas” event. Sarah was so enthusiastic about donating to our event, and donated adorable little clippies to each attendee. We fell in love with Sarah’s products, and have been following her latest creations since then! We are so thrilled to welcome her as a sponsor for the second time, and can’t wait to give this adorable Valentine’s Set to one lucky mama!

We had a quick interview with Sarah, to give you a peek inside her life as Mompreneur. Enjoy!

What was your inspiration to open HipBowPotamus Designs?

My inspiration for starting HipBowPotamus Designs was definitely my daughter, Madison. She had very little hair when she was1526952_787952567898656_1883704041_n a baby, until she was about 18 months, and I couldn’t really put traditional clips in her hair because they’d just fall out. I started off using headbands with my bows instead and absolutely loved using my creativity to make different accessories for her. It didn’t take long before I thought I should share my creativity with others. Now all of my clips come with a non slip grip to help keep them in fine hair like my daughter had! She was even the inspiration for the name! She was born prematurely and was so tiny but ate like a rock star and gained weight so quickly her doctor was even surprised. We used to call her our “hungry, hungry hippo”, which is where I got the idea for my business name. She continues to inspire me now at 4 years old as she watches me make bows and often takes them for herself.

What is your biggest challenge as a work at home mom?

Finding a proper balance between work and family time has definitely been my biggest challenge as a work at home mom. Learning to have set business hours so I’m not checking messages on my business page throughout the day has been a big help with that challenge. It’s far too easy to get absorbed in your work and lose that balance in life. It’s something I always have to keep in mind.

What are your business plans for 2014? What can we expect to see from you?

This year I’m looking to add some brand new products and venture into creating new designs that you haven’t seen from me 1560692_787958821231364_749763831_nyet. One thing I’m definitely going to start working on is Tsumami Kanzashi which are traditional Japanese folded flowers to use in my hair accessory designs. I’m very excited about these, they are beautiful and so versatile! I’m always striving to try something new and keep my products unique.

What do you love most about being a mompreneur?

I love being my own boss, setting my own hours and of course being able to spend my days with my children. I will never say it’s easy, because it certainly isn’t, but it’s rewarding. I feel accomplished to be able to have started something from my own personal creativity and love of craft and to turn that into a business. It’s an amazing feeling! I’m very thankful that I’ve been able to come this far and look forward to continuing on!

Sarah, we would like to thank you for your generous donation, once again! We wish you all the best in 2014, and will be eagerly awaiting the launch of your new products!

Stay tuned for DAY TWO of our giveaway (being posted this evening), sponsored by Shelley Inglis, independent Arbonne consultant! Good luck, everyone!

                Love & Blessings,

                Amanda
